The Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) is a global satellite internet and telephony network utilizing small form-factor portable terminals which provide performance options to suit different operational needs.

BGAN terminals are normally used to connect a laptop computer to broadband Internet in remote locations, as long as there is line-of-sight to the satellite the BGAN terminal can be used virtually anywhere. With a BGAN, there are no cellular dead-zones or disaster service outages, making BGAN systems ideal for many professionals and industries.

Simultaneous voice and data

A single BGAN terminal provides simultaneous voice and broadband data up to 492kbps, which enables users to access the internet or send email, and also talk on the phone at the same time.

Global coverage

BGAN is available around the world and across the globe, with the only exception being the extreme Polar Regions where no coverage is possible due to the curvature of the earth and the location of the satellites. In the rest of the world, BGAN provides connectivity wherever your business or operations take you.

Reliable BGAN network

All BGAN satellite services are delivered via the Inmarsat-4 network, with 99.9 per cent satellite and ground network availability and an operational lifespan expected beyond the year 2029.

Secure Communications

BGAN services by Mobil satellite Technologies meets military and government requirements for security and supports all major VPN products and encryption standards.

Flexibility

BGAN supports the latest IP services, as well as traditional circuit-switched voice and data. BGAN solutions integrate seamlessly with corporate networks and legacy applications.

Streaming IP

BGAN supports a range of guaranteed on-demand Streaming IP rates from 32kbps to at least 384kbps, and up to 450kbps with BGAN X-Streamâ„¢.

Easy to use

No technical expertise or training is needed to set up and use BGAN. All terminals are plug and play, so you can go online within minutes.

Vehicular BGAN

Most vehicular terminals comprise a roof-mountable antenna and in-car unit. Antennas are compact, relatively lightweight and discreet, so as not to draw attention. The vehicular antenna can be permanently or magnetically mounted to the roof of any suitable vehicle, whether it is a truck, bus, mobile command post, or recreational vehicle (RV).
